Wow! What a heat wave it has been here in England. Two of the events I was able to attend were really hot but I enjoyed them neither the less.
First up was London Film and Comic Con (LFCC). LFCC is one of my highlights of the year. I've been going to them ever since its second ever one back in 2002. I've missed the odd one but have tried to make every one. I love them as events as they cover one of my favourite genres which is films. For this LFCC I travelled and stayed with some long term friends of mine. Together we form a group known as 'Team Savvy'. The group formed at one of the Collectormaina's and the name has stuck ever since. It was great to hang out with old friends again and we had one of the best road trips to and from the event.
The event itself was one of the best I've been to. I met so many friends who I hadn't seen in ages as well as some new ones. Friday night was preview night. I wore my incomplete Hansel (I ran out of time prior to the event to complete the jacket and main gun due to ill health). I joined fellow Team Savvy member and one of my best friends Sam as Gretel. She looked amazing and hopefully we will have a proper photo-shoot when my costume is complete. The only unfortunate thing was that I was badly dehydrated from the road trip that I was really ill that night. I still had a great evening as a few good friends were staying in the same hotel. We all had a big meal together and had some laughs.
On Saturday I wore one of my older costumes complete with a new prop. I wore my Legolas which is a costume I put together in 2002/03. After a six year break I decided to re-wear him. Sadly, new event rules meant I couldn't use my old bow so I quickly put together a new one (tutorial coming soon). It was great to meet and hang out with other Lord of the Rings/Hobbit cosplayers. We got loads of photos taken and I was blown away with the photo requests I received with Legolas. I mainly used Saturday to get to know and meet people as it was really a very hot day. One of the hottest in a long time. My friends wore some amazing costumes, including 18th century lady and fem Sub Zero.
On Sunday, it was Game of Thrones day as I wore my Ser Jaime Lannister so that I could finally get a photo on the Iron Throne and meet Peter Dinklage (Tyrion Lannister). Peter was lovely and liked my costume. Sadly, I don't have a photo with him but do have his autograph. I'm now one off getting all the main Lannister autographs. I also, met and had photos taken with the other Game of Thrones cosplayers. All had amazing costumes and all were really lovely people. After the event we said our goodbyes to amazing friends and then had one really random road trip as we managed to kill a service station hee hee. You had to be there for that one. Photo of me in the Iron Throne below.
Thank you to Sam :devnaurarwen:, Paul (non dA), Jack :idevPC-IchabodCrane: and Gemma :devgothscrat: for the amazing travel/room share fun times. Thank you to Steve :devspikesteve: and his partner for the laughs. Thank you to all the LOTR cosplayers for making me feel welcome. Thank you to all the friends I bumped into for making it a memorable event including SJ :devsjbonnar:, Eileen :devEileenSkopnik:, Freddy :devFrederica-La-Noir: and many others. Thank you to anyone I haven't mentioned. There are so many, too many to mention but you all know who you are.
Next up was Manchester MCM Expo.
This was a one day event but as it was very close to where I lived Team Savvy decided it would be a good event to meet up at. Again it was really hot. I did regret wearing Clint 'Hawkeye' Barton's black tactical gear from Avengers Assemble because I roasted, hee hee. Jack and I managed to completely miss buying the tickets before the event. Something which I plan not to do again (we usually manage to buy our tickets beforehand). We ended up facing a massive queue that we were stuck in for over an hour. We did bump into friends while we waited which helped the wait not be quite as painful. Once we did get in we had a great time. We spent most of it just chilling and catching up with friends. We found it just too hot to do anything too strenuous. I didn't manage many photos so plan to get a photo-shoot done soon of my Hawkeye.
After the event we went out for a meal and drink with friends from out of town. It was great to catch up and chat about random things. We had a few drinks and a few laughs that made for a great summer evening. We then spent the next day just relaxing and hanging out.
Thank you to Team Savvy; Jack :devPC-IchabodCrane:, Lucy (non dA), Becki (non dA), Gemma :devgothscrat:, Sam :devnaurarwen: and Paul (non dA) for the epic company and silly fun times. Thank you to all the friends from Expo, especially Chevi :devAngel-Aiko:, who I haven't seen in a while so it was great to see her again.
On to Ayacon (the final one)
Sadly, this wasn't meant to be. My ill health has gotten worse and I had to pull out a week prior to the event. Absolutely gutted as I missed seeing friends and getting to take part in excellent events like Cosplay Chess. I now need surgery as my health has declined. Unfortunately, the surgery I was hoping for hasn't happened so I'm now having to delay quite a few things. Larger cosplay plans are currently on hold until I know what's happening with my surgery.
I do want to give a big shout out to all those who arranged Ayacon as it was an amazing event. I attended two and both were brilliant events. I'm sorry to see Ayacon go. Thank you to those who made it a brilliant series of events.
Currently I'm working on costumes for Winter LFCC and possibly London Expo. Hopefully, I will have had my surgery by then. I am hoping to start using my dA more. Sorry if it has taken a while for me to reply to your lovely feedback. Hopefully as my health improves I'll be able to visit more. I can't believe its going to be my birthday in a couple of weeks (1st September). Not sure what I'll be doing as the health issues have upset any possible plans I may have had. I do hope to spend the day with friends and my brother but will have to see. In the meantime I hope you all have a lovely weekend.
